ATA Carnets
A Carnet or ATA Carnet (pronounced kar-nay) is an international customs and temporary export-import document. It is used to clear customs in 86 countries and territories without paying duties and import taxes on merchandise that will be re-exported within 2, 6 or 12 months.
The ATA Carnet allows the temporary importation of commercial samples, professional equipment or goods going to either a trade fair or exhibition to countries which are part of the ATA Carnet system.
These countries as of February 2017 are as set out below, the European Coutries in asterixed (*) do not need a carnet for travel to/from another European country.
Soon to be accepting carnets: Qatar, Trinidad and Tobago and Saudi Arabia.

Its also important to note the following:
An ATA Carnet is not required for travel between the UK and most European countries Please note 2 exceptions:
1. Norway is not an EU member – ATA Carnets ARE required between UK & Norway
2. The Spanish territories of the Canary Islands require an ATA Carnet
